Q: What is the scope of your business?
A: Empire is a full-line global, best in classsupplier specializing in automation solutions. We currently support thousands of different types of automation products, as well as, wire, cable, and related accessories. Our areas of expertise include the following:
  • Automation Products - A complete line of safety switches, panel mount transformers, proximity cords, strain reliefs, rectangular & circular connectors,terminal blocks, sensors, PLC's, touch screens and so much more.
  • Industrial Ethernet Products - Empire provides a full spectrum of product solutions for industrial Ethernet applications. Products such as managed & unmanaged industrial duty Ethernet switches, power supplies, firewall devices, flexing industrial duty ethernet cable and cordsets and heavy duty industrial Ethernet connectors.
  • Military / Industrial Connectors & Accessories - Empire supplies a full line of circular & rectangular connectors from the leading manufacturers. Empire also supplies accesories, hardware, tooling along with any other required sundries for your cable & harness applications.
  • Overmolded Connector Capabilities - Durable, cost effective, custom applications, such as moisture resistant or high temperature. Overmolded allows for reduced size of design and measured contour or routing options (30°, 45°, 87°, 115°).
  • Custom Cable Assemblies - Engineer, design and manufacture for any application.
  • Bulk Wire & Cable - Offer cut to length products and value added services (Dye, Stripe, Re-Spool) for any electrical or electronic wire and cable.
  • Bulk Wire & Cable - Empire supplies a broad family of bulk wire & cable from the finest high data rate signal cables to massive power cable and feature the following services, Custom cut lenghts, custom dye & custom striping.
 
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: Empire was established in 1999 as a custom cable assembly manufacturer. In 2003, Energy Electric Assembly was acquired, Empire became a full-line automation supplier. Today, Empire continues to identify and support the ever changing automation landscape.

A: Empire' standard hours of operation are 6:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday. Contact your Empire sales representative for any additional assistance.

Q: Do you warranty your products?
A: Empire recognizes all manufacturer's warranties, and also warranties any custom built product. Contact your sales representative for complete warranty details.
 
Q: What products or manufacturers do you support?
A: Empire offers a complete automation solution. Products include proximity cords, cable tray, and safety light curtains. Our list of manufacturers includes Crous-Hinds, Harting, Souriau, Lapp Group,Pepperl+Fuchs,Rees, Brad Harrison, Tyco and so many others. Q: What associations/organizations/certifications is Empire involved with?
A: Empire is an active member of the MMBDC (Michigan Minority Business Development Council) and the SRMBC (South Region Minority Business Council). Our current quality certifications include ISO/TS-16949 and ISO 9000:2000 (pending).

A: Empire currently has 104 employees in Michigan, Georgia, and Alabama.
 
Q: How do you engineer a custom cable assembly?
A: Empire has a complete Technical Support staff, engineering staff, and fully trained sales team to assess and evaluate any assembly application. Your sales representative can provide you with more details.
 
Q: Do you offer product support?
A: Along with assembly application assessment, all of our experienced product specialists will identify the appropriate solution for any application. This process can be done on-site or within our 62,000 sq. ft manufacturing and production facility in Auburn Hills. Consult your sales representative for specific areas of support.
 
Q: What is your standard lead time for quotes?
A: All quoting opportunities are unique. Once all necessary data is collected, any quotation can be completed within 24 hours. Consult your sales representative for details.
 
Q: What quality programs do you participate in?
A: Empire is currently certified as ISO/TS-16949. Empire will also receive certification for ISO 9000:2000 upon completion of a scheduled audit in June, 2005.
 
Q: What is your standard lead time for builds?
A: Similar to quotations, the build process for many assemblies is specialized. However, many of the assemblies we manufacture can be completed in 2-3 days ARO, considering component availability and quantities requested. Consult your sales representative for details.
 
Q: Do you offer onsite training?
A: Empire takes great pride in making available all pertinent data to our customers. Much of our training is done in conjunction with our vendors. Empire offers an array of options on product training. Consult your sales representative for details.
 
Q: What is VMI? Do you offer it?

A: VMI, or Vendor Managed Inventory, is a process in which Empire will identify a list of items that are used regularly in either an OEM or MRO environment. Empire manages a multitude of VMI programs for a number of its customers. Each customer has different requirements, and Empire can design a VMI program to fit any situation. Consult your sales representative for a customized solution to fulfill your requirements.
