Tosibox Setup Instructions, AB Static LAN

1. Connect a Key to a Lock to exchange Encryption Information and allow the remote connection of the devices.

i. Power up the Tosibox Lock and wait for it to come online, it will give an audible notification.

ii. Plug the Key into the USB port of the lock and when the lights on the front of the Lock stop flashing after about 10 seconds, the Lock and Key have been Paired.

iii. You may now unplug the Key from the Lock.


2. Deploy the Tosibox Lock in “Lock Mode”.

i. Plug an Internet Connected Ethernet Cable into the WAN Port on the Lock.


3. Connect to the Tosibox via the service port.

i. Plug an ethernet cable into the service ethernet port on the Tosibox.

  • Identifiable by the wrench symbol below the port.
  • The port directly next to the WAN port.

ii. Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into your computer/laptop.

  • No Static IP needs to be set.
  • Make sure the ethernet port is configured for DHCP.

iii. Open a web browser and go to 172.17.17.17.

You should see the following screen. Where there is blur in the below image you should see values for the Tosibox and key.


4. Configure the Tosibox.

i. Log into the Tosibox webpage.

  • The login button is in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Username should be locked as Admin.
  • Password is located on the bottom of the physical Tosibox Device.

ii. Check the WAN settings.

  • Click the “NETWORK” button at the top left-middle of the screen.
  • Click the “WAN” button from the dropdown on the left side of the screen.
  • Ensure that the Protocol is set to “DHCP client”.

iii. Adjust LAN settings.

  • Click the “NETWORK” button at the top left-middle of the screen.
  • Click the “LAN” button from the dropdown on the left side of the screen.

You should see the following screen.

  • Ensure that the Protocol is set to “Static address”.
  • Adjust the “IPv4 address” to the subnet your machine is configured to.
  • - *IMPORTANT* Ensure that the last octet of the IPv4 address is set to 1
  • - *EXAMPLE* 10.10.1.1
  • Adjust the “IPv4 netmask”. Typically, you want to use 255.255.255.0.
  • Ensure that “IPv4 gateway” is left empty.
  • Ensure that “IPv4 broadcast” is left empty.
  • Ensure that “Use custom DNS servers” is left empty, unless instructed otherwise.
  • If you wish to use NAT, check that box. The only NAT option available is 1:1.
  • - If you check NAT, enter the address you wish to use. This can be left blank and an address will be generated.
  • - *IMPORTANT* Ensure that the last octet of the address is set to 0.
  • If you with to use PoE (Power over Ethernet), check that box. PoE is on the last LAN port, port 3. This is noted below the port as well.

iv. *IMPORTANT* After making these changes to the LAN settings, click the save button in the lower left corner of the screen. If you do not see the button, scroll down. This will save and apply the settings. 

v. *IMPORTANT* After saving the settings, wait until the web page reconnects, then reboot the Tosibox.
